    Hi Maximilian,

I have Motion Computing LE1600 and trying W7 on it. But I have a few problem.
I know the rule, first look on internet and than ask, so believe me that I’ve read a lot of sites and blogs and can’t find the aswer. You’re my last hope, than only reinstall.

I’ve installed suggested beta driver for biometric sensor. I can see it in Biometric devices like AuthenTec Inc. AES2501A. BUT…In Preferences – Biometric devices the windows writes me that no biometric devices is found. :( Where could be a problem? Could you provide me some advice?

    Thanks a lot

    Best Regards

    • Hello Karel,

with the Windows 7 rtm or final you do not need the beta drivers anymore. As far as i recall they came with Windows Update automatically.

I did a new install of Win7 professional RTM:
      1. install Win7
      2. run windows update – it will find most devices and install them automatically – many more than the RC did.
      3. I recall reboots – several times. After each restart check for uninstalles devices in device manager. If there are some run windws update again.
Do this until windows update does not find any new drivers.
I think only the audio devices and the motion dashboard cannot be found by Windows Update. But these devices remain known anyway. So you will know which drivers to use.
There will be one unknown device left: the TPM. I used the Motion-Vista driver.

In your case I would try to uninstall the beta driver (right click the device in device manager and select delete driver). reboot. run windows update to get the driver.
If that does not help here are some things I would look for:
Make sure the device is enabled in bios – though I do not know, whether there is an option to enable or disable that fingerprint sensor there. If the sensor has been working before you can skip that though.
Make sure you have the latest bios version. (I do not know whether you can flash the bios from vista or win7 since I did that when i was still using winXP!).
      Hope that helps.
      Good luck.
