Well, it seems that there are some minor graphic driver issues: while playing a movie windows media player stalls occasionally upon moving or resizing its window.
Since this has not happend using vlc - this is not an issue to me.
Bluetooth works excellent - which I cannot say of my other dell laptops.
I have not tested the presentation mode with powerpoint yet.

Thank you, CJ. I will give it a try next week and let you know. Hopefully their support covers Win7.

MZ it indeed maybe a Powerpoint bug.

My suggestion, the easiest, is to get help with this possible bug at Microsoft's Powerpoint support site.

SEE: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX102871621033.aspx

It is free if this is your first Powerpoint request. They can log onto your system to see precisely what is causing the problem...and more importantly solve your problem.

As an alternative, OMNITECH Support, for Powerpoint is offering a try for Free 24/7.

In addition, there are a number of Powerpoint forums offering free help that are worth a try.

PowerPoint 2007 - Presenter View:

1. the latest Intel driver does not make a difference.

2. Setting up the Slide Show does neither remember the choice for Presenter View nor which monitor to show the slide show on. it keeps jumping back to primary monitor each time one closes the Set Up Show - window.

So it may be it a Powepoint bug.

Hi CJ,
thank you. That's interesting information. I recommend everyone to read this (already linked inside CJ's link):
<a href="http://www.villagetronic.com/vidock/compatibility.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.villagetronic.com/vidock/compatibility.html</a>
It gives an excellent overview on ViDock's capabilities.

CJ: where did you get the latest Intel drivers? Could you post the link for everyone?

The Windows Experience Index was redone for Windows 7. So they are not directly compareable.

Have you tried Intel's latest graphic driver for the LE1600?

The latest Intel driver for the LE1600 is v.14.25.50.4764 (6.14.10.4764).

The real test for the LE1600+Win7 combination will be its compatibility with ViDock 2. If compatible, the LE1600 with Windows 7 will be able to run Win7 Aero in-full with multiple monitors.

SEE: https://www.harmonicinversion.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=162&category_id=4&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=28

One final observation, on my LE1600 1.50GHz, 1.50GB(RAM),running Vista Ultimate SP2 with all updates, I get higher Windows Experience Index Subscores than what MZ reports on his LE1600 running Windows 7.

My Subscores vs maximilian zamorsky’s (MZ)
Calculations per second 3.2 vs 2.8(MZ)
Memory Operations p/s 4.3 vs 4.1(MZ)

All the remaining scores are the same.

Vista Ultimate SP2(6.0.6002) seems to be a very worthy competitor
to Windows 7 on the LE1600 at this point in time.

The first real limitation seems to be the driver of the graphics card.

I could not get powerpoint to output the presentation on an external monitor. Not even when I changed the primary and secondary display. Powerpoint (2007) always used the LE1600's display.

That is a real no-go. Because if you want to use the presenter view, or when you like to mark things on the presentation itself for the audience - that's all not possible, because the presentation runs on the touch-screen leaving you without input on the other display.

Uninstalling the Graphics-driver - hoping win7 would jump in - leaves just the primary monitor.
